Structural Component
Tubular products manufactured by forming stainless steel plates or coils into a cylindrical shape and welding the seam run through various industrial networks. These welded stainless steel pipes offer a cost-effective alternative to seamless piping for applications requiring corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability. The manufacturing process involves continuous forming and automated welding to restore the properties of the weld zone.
Quality standards require non-destructive testing, such as eddy current or ultrasonic inspection, to ensure weld integrity along the entire length of the tube. These pipes are graded by alloy composition, with different grades offering specialized resistance to temperature or acid. They are widely used in chemical processing and food production.
Fabrication Technique
Production begins with the selection of high-quality stainless steel strip of precise thickness. To produce welded stainless steel pipes, the strip is fed through a series of rollers that gradually bend it into a circular profile. The adjacent edges are then joined using high-frequency induction welding or tungsten inert gas welding without the addition of filler metal.
This produces a clean, consistent weld seam that matches the base metal’s strength. Online monitoring systems detect seam defects instantly.
Industrial Application
Selecting these piping products depends on the operating pressure and corrosive nature of the fluid being carried. Use of welded stainless steel pipes reduces installation costs compared to seamless options in low and medium pressure systems. They provide a reliable conduit that minimizes the risk of leaks and contamination.
The material is easily recycled at the end of its life.
